Global Executive Round Table with the Ports Association of Louisiana
2020 has been a year for the ages. Covid-19 has had global ramifications on the shipping industry, and continues to cause supply chain disruptions as the world works to contain the spread of the virus. Our ports have taken the brunt of the pandemic and its effect on international trade. How have ports managed during the pandemic and what do they see on the horizon? Our first Global Executive Forum Round Table will visit with the Ports Association of Louisiana that are so important to Kentucky's imports and exports.
Mississippi River serves as a low-cost option for shipping bulk agricultural commodities from America’s breadbasket to destinations around the world. The southward flow of the Mississippi River makes barge transportation a relatively inexpensive way to transport bulk commodities to export terminals in Louisiana. Louisiana ports connect and enhance major industries, such as oil and gas, agriculture and petrochemical, along with manufacturers to reach global markets. It is a destination for many of Kentucky’s international companies from agriculture to manufacturing. More than 500 million tons of cargo moved on the Lower Mississippi River in 2019.
Join us for an engaging round table discussion with the Ports Association of Louisiana on COVID and plans for continuing to expand this vital trade resource for international companies. Panelists will be from the Ports Association of Louisiana, Greater Lafourche Port Commission, Port of South Louisiana, and Cameron Parish Port.
