Thank you to our sponsors:
In addition to being "the Bluegrass State," Kentucky is known for our rich history, bourbon distilleries, the Colonel's Secret Recipe, agriculture exports, and our equine industry.
Bill Daugherty and Kentucky Commissioner of Agriculture Ryan Quarles will be discussing the global reach of Kentucky's agricultural and equine industries.
Daugherty is a managing partner of BlackRidge Stables. Today, BlackRidge has interests in 15 horses; California Chrome (the second top money winner in the history of American horse racing), three mares that are bred to Chrome, two foals that Chrome sired, and nine on the track. Previous horses include Cathryn Sophia, winner of the 2016 Kentucky Oaks and an Uncle Mo weanling filly that sold for $200,000 at the 2017 Keeneland November sale.
Ryan Quarles was elected Kentucky’s Commissioner of Agriculture in 2015. His leadership on international trade issues saw the resumption of live equine exports to China, a decision that benefits all sectors of Kentucky’s agricultural economy from horse breeders to feed producers. Under his direction, the Kentucky Department of Agriculture continues to look for more opportunities for Kentucky farmers to grow domestic and international markets.
